Oceanfront vs Intracoastal Condos in Palm Beach County

This is one of the first decisions condo buyers in Palm Beach County face. Both can be wonderful. They're just different ways to live.

Oceanfront

  • Lifestyle: Step out to the beach. Sunrise over the Atlantic.
  • Where: Singer Island, Juno Beach, Palm Beach and other barrier-island towns.
  • Maintenance: Salt air and wind are hard on buildings. Concrete repair, windows and balconies need more attention over time.
  • Insurance: Buildings directly on the ocean can face more wind and flood exposure. Have a licensed insurance agent quote the specific building before you commit.

Intracoastal

  • Lifestyle: Calm water views, often with sunsets or Palm Beach island views. In West Palm Beach, the waterfront along Flagler Drive is a short walk or drive to dining, culture and downtown.
  • Boating: Some buildings offer marina access or are close to one.
  • Maintenance: Still coastal, but often more sheltered from direct ocean exposure.

Comparing value

Oceanfront often carries a premium for the beach. Intracoastal can offer more space or more services at a similar price. Within each, floor, exposure and building finances matter more than the label.

In West Palm Beach

Most luxury towers in West Palm Beach face the Intracoastal and Palm Beach island, including The Bristol, Forte on Flagler, La Clara and One Watermark Place. Start with our West Palm Beach luxury condo guide.
